Jimmy Red Corn

from $20.00

2024 crop

Jimmy Red Corn is a unique variety of corn historically used in producing moonshine or illicitly distilled whiskey in the United States. It has roots in the Cherokee Nation and the Southeastern United States, particularly in the Appalachian region. The corn is named after its traditional grower, Jimmy Red, who cultivated and preserved the heirloom variety. Known for its rich flavor and high sugar content, it became a favorite of moonshiners for producing whiskey with distinctive taste profiles. Jimmy Red also makes amazing grits and cornmeal.

This crop was grown in partnership with another local Union County family farm with which we’re friends.
